This systematic review identifies Adizes (1979) as one of five foundational OLC models and maps 40 years of empirical research that cites or builds on his framework. The authors highlight the limited empirical testing of stage transition mechanisms as the key gap in the Adizes-derived literature and call for longitudinal designs.
