In this blog, instead of writing an insight, I would like to inform you about my two new books, “The Accordion Player”, a memoir, and its accompanying book of essays, “What Matters in Life”.
I spent over 15 years, probably more, in writing and rewriting "The Accordion Player" over a hundred times, working with five different editors. It was the most difficult book I've ever written, and I've written quite a few of them. I had to decide what to say and what not to say. How open and honest do I want to be, what information do I want to share, and how do I present myself to the world?
Extremely difficult decisions to make. The ego gets involved. Questions of honesty and integrity get involved.
I decided to let the world know who I am, to share my difficulties with experiencing, showing, and receiving love. To tell openly why I had those difficulties and how by applying the principles of healing organizations that I developed, I successfully healed myself.
It starts with my childhood in the Second World War, how I survived it, and then coming to the United States with $50 in my pocket, and an accordion in my hand. It describes how I made it to get my Ph.D. from Columbia, and then how I developed the methodology that bears my name and earned me fame, and, in the process, how I opened my heart, which I had closed during the Second World War when all the people I loved perished. The message of the book is to never give up on love.
The accompanying book, “What Matters in Life”, presents the lessons I learned while I was trying to find a way not to be afraid to love, to not be afraid of intimacy.
Many people that read the books told me that the books are a must to read, and that's why I take the initiative to recommend them to you. I hope you will find it valuable.
