War Over

June 24, 2025

The excitement about the latest events, where the power structure in the Middle East changed and the threat of a nuclear Iran is being removed, is justifiable. Israel—and the rest of the world—can breathe freely now that a country which supports terrorism worldwide does not have a nuclear weapon in its arsenal.

We should not, however, forget that the real problem has not been solved and is still staring us in the face. We are all walking around it and hoping it will disappear by itself. It is the Palestinian problem. Nine million people with no future, no rights, no identity… no one wants them. The arab countries refuse to absorb them. Europe will not take them. Africa? Millions of Muslims…?

True, it is not as dangerous now if Iran is not in the picture, but the problem is still there, and it will express itself one way or another—because it did not disappear.

I think that it is even becoming more problematic. The recent events of removing Iran from the picture—the success of this war—made Bibi Netanyahu very popular. And now, if there are elections in Israel, he will be reelected with a big, solid majority. Since he is against a two-state solution and does not provide any other solution, the problem will still be there and be prolonged.

Before his success with the war in Iran, there was hope that in the coming elections he would be defeated and a more reasonable government, less extreme right-oriented, would come to power and deal with the issue with more reasonable sense. That dream has evaporated now with the big success of this war. And the problem continues. Like a disease that is not treated, it will get worse and worse and worse—to the detriment of Israel.
